Gabriel Held, The Instagram Account You Need to be Following

I stumbled across this account maybe a month ago on the popular, my bad, explore page on ig and I have been OBSESSED ever since.

Vogue has coined Gabriel Held as, “Instagram’s foremost fashion historian” and I couldn’t agree more! When you divulge into Held’s insta account you learn that he is a stylist and vintage dealer who’s pieces have made there way to some pretty bad ass name, i.e. Rihanna in the “Wild Thought’s” Video!!!!

Speaking of Rihanna, you have to check out Gabriel’s baritone rendition of “Wild Thoughts”! This baritone diva also covers Kandi’s “Don’t Think I’m Not”, (which is how I hit follow) not to mention a weekly video of him performing Lil Kim. (Sidebar: I was Lil Kim for Halloween in the 4th grade, my mom didn’t know who she was! Oh, and my sister and I got grounded for going to see her at the “No Way Out Tour” in ’97)
As a lover of 80’s, 90’s and hip hop style Gabriel Held’s page evokes emotion for me and takes me to a certain place in my life where I was super carefree watching MTV, BET (when they both played music videos and now I’m telling my age) and dreaming of being in Vogue!

So fashion lovers get in, follow @gabriel_held_vintage and enjoy the ride! I guarantee you will get your life on a daily!!! We all need it in these tumultuous times!

British Vogue Welcomes Edward Enninful

Editor in Chief, Alexandra Shulman, of British Vogue announced her retirement, we all were wondering WHO’S UP NEXT? Okay maybe the rest of the world didn’t use those exact words but still. Well, Vogue announced the amazing Edward Enninful will be her successor. Talk about Black Excellence.
Here’s a quick history lesson on Enninful. Edward got his start at I-D magazine as Fashion Director at 19! See mom, you shoulda let me run off after high school to NYC to model, who knows where I would be lol. He went on to work for I-D for almost 20 years, while also contributing to Italian and American Vogue.

In 2004 he received the Isabella Blow Award for fashion creator at the British Fashion Awards. Enninful was also appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire for his services to diversity in the fashion industry by none other than Queen Elizabeth.

Not to mention for the past 6 years, Edward has been the creative and fashion director at W Magazine. Not bad.

With all these accolades under his belt, Enninful was almost predestined for this role of Editor in Chief at Vogue. I van not wait to see what he does with Vogue. He will begin his role August 1st.

Our First Lady Michelle Obama Covers Vogue!

Michelle Obama Covers Vogue December 2016 Issue
Michelle Obama Covers Vogue December 2016 Issue

YASSS! The FLOTUS that everyone fell in love with covers Vogue final 2016 issue and it reminds you how much we are going to miss our FIRST LADY! Michelle is giving us grace, beauty, and joy on the cover in Carolina Herrara dress and beautiful hair flowing in the wind!  I happen to think this is my favorite cover of hers as she has been on the cover 3 times in the last 7 years. In this issue she reflects on the work she has done in the past 8 years and the work she is yet to continue!  This is one First Lady who was truly involved and not just a piece of arm candy but she put in work and did it respectfully! We are going to miss your FLOTUS but I know this beautiful soul has so much more in store!

I could have spent eight years doing anything, and at some level, it would have been fine. I could have focused on flowers. I could have focused on decor. I could have focused on entertainment. Because any First Lady, rightfully, gets to define her role. There’s no legislative authority; you’re not elected. And that’s a wonderful gift of freedom. – Vogue
