I recently got invited out to a new location for BONMi in the Flatiron District of Manhattan. BONMi is a Vietnamese inspired fast casual restaurant featuring non-traditional Bánh Mì Sandwiches, Greens, Rice, and Noodle Bowls. They pride themselves in using premium and all natural ingredients. Their signature dishes include the Red Eye Bánh Mì Sandwich, High Five Rice & Quinoa Bowl, BBQ Belly Bánh Mì Sandwich, and the Kickshaw Salad. They also have a Build Your Own menu with your base can be a sandwich or a bowl. From there you also pick your filling, sauce, and finally toppings. (more…)

April showers doesn’t just bring May flowers but it also brings some awesome sample sales. A very popular crowd favorite is back which is Gilt City Warehouse Sale. Below I have also listed two other sample sales you should add to your calendar for this month.
Happy Monday and I hope you all are starting off this week on the right foot.
Let’s have have a moment of honesty! Finding a great Chinese restaurant above 110th is a difficult task in itself! And to clarify I am NOT referring to your local Chinese TAKEOUT SPOT. I am referring to a nice sit down establishment that is not Asian Fusion and stays in their lane. There are far too many “Japanese restaurants” with big menus also selling Chinese and Thai food. This cupcake shop in East Village takes art and desserts to a whole other level. Their cupcakes, cakes, and celebrity inspired cookies have caught the eye of many New Yorkers and has created some awesome Instagram posts. Back in December we shared with you the Drake Cake on our IG page.
Carmine’s is something you have to experience at least once in your lifetime. And when you go bring a crew, wear loose top, and put on some stretch pants! Carmine’s is an Italian restaurant serves family style portions and they could care less about you preserving your girlish figure! Their first location opened up in 1990 on the Upper West Side and since then they have expanded to a second location near Times Square and three others outside of NYC. I recommend the one on the Upper West Side because it will have less tourists, and it is the first of their locations. I strongly encourage making reservations and have at least three or more in your party if y0u plan to successfully conquer this food mission.
For dinner, I had the calamari as an appetizer and their special pasta for that night. The calamari was average and nothing to really rave about besides the large portion. Now lets get into this pasta that is featured below! Scallops, shrimp, calms, mussels, garlic, tomatoes, and a white wine sauce. It taste even better than it looks!
Honestly, truly, Thai Villa HAS to be the best Thai food I have had in NYC. I understand that is a strong statement, but I stand by it. Feel free to reference my previous post about my favorite Thai spots in NYC. Thai Villa takes the cake with the ambiance, decor, food, and service. I originally discovered them while I was sitting in my office and craving Thai food in the Flatiron area of Manhattan. Thai Villa has been my go-to since they offer amazing lunch specials for under $20. What is so sad is the food is so good that every time I go I forget to take pics of my food to share it with The DC fam. Featured below is my favorite dish which Chicken Pad Kra Prow. (more…)
