Just Skin : Treat Sun Damage!

I am very into skin care. I love trying new products. I am always reading up on the latest skin care tips, talking with my friends about their skin care routine,  like  a total skin care maniac! I have always had really great skin as far as no breakouts! I also never really went through that whole pizza face teenage meltdown THANK THE MAN ABOVE and my parents for passing down those super lit skin genes! However as I get a tad bit younger but my age increases (see what I did there) I find it very important to start doing preventive options so hopefully I won’t run into the issues of ageing skin ! Also treating things I never noticed until now when I’m all about my skin health! Everyone is always asking me what I  use on my skin, what is my routine and for so long I didn’t have a serious one besides fresh hot water and my hands!  However I do now!  My biggest issue I have worked is sun damage and dark spots from UV rays and just life in general.

Most of us brown babies don’t know and our parents didn’t teach us about the importance of sunscreen and SPF. I know for a fact my parents never mentioned anything about it all! You usually get most of  your sun damage by the time you are 17 years old! This is why a lot of us have discolorations and so many different shades on our face alone, like for me the sides of my face where darker than my front. Or my forehead was darker than the lower portion of my face. Think about the side of your face gets more sun exposure and if you are not wearing SPF you more than likely have darker shades in those areas!

So once I noticed how much sun damage I had I starting looking for the best products to even out my skin tone and brighten my complexion. Not to be confused with bleaching your skin at all. Brightening products and serums help you uncover your natural glow and enhances what you already working with! Its never to to late to take charge of your skin care! I will be sharing my favorite skin care products weekly and also giving product reviews. Today lets focus on evening out your skin tone and brightening your complexion. These are a few of my top picks baby!

Korres Wild Rose Vitamin C Active Brightening Oil
Korres Wild Rose Vitamin C Active Brightening Oil $54.00

This is one of my absolutely favorite products! This oil is absolutely heaven sent. Not only does it brighten and even out your skin tone. Its also so hydrating and makes your skin so soft and smooth. I usually use this product after I use my toner at night! I tend to stay away from this in the day time because it is so oily! This is one product you want to surely wear over night and let it soak into your pores. It can be used in the day time also but try to use a smaller amount in the day time cause of the oiliness! This really helped with dark marks and small blemished some things it made vanish and some things made them so faint it was unbelievable!

A Night at Shi

This summer I have been keeping my promise to myself and exploring places other than Manhattan and Brooklyn.  Staten Island is the like red headed stepchild no one cares about in NYC (no shade, but I guess that is shade).  But I been spending my leisure time in The Bronx and Queens.  I recently dined at Shi in Long Island City and enjoyed myself so much I wanted to share it with the D.C. Fam!

Shi is an upscale Asian Fusion restaurant, and if you know me I am extremely funny when it comes to Asian Fusion restaurants.  My logic is how can you perfect making Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Japanese food?  Surprisingly, Shi has convinced me you can!  The menu at Shi can be slightly overwhelming since it is Asian Fusion, but for starters their menu include things such as Chicken Satay, Lychee Calamari, Fried Wontons, and Shumai.   For entrees they are ready to bless your pallet with things such as Sake Infused Chilean Seabass, Spicy Basil, Vietnamese Noodles, and Peppercorn Scallops.  Lets also not forget they have over 10 different types of specialty sushi rolls which they are all moderately priced as well.  While dining I opted for The Shrimpy roll which includes shrimp tempura and spicy tuna.

Gabriel Held, The Instagram Account You Need to be Following

I stumbled across this account maybe a month ago on the popular, my bad, explore page on ig and I have been OBSESSED ever since.

Vogue has coined Gabriel Held as, “Instagram’s foremost fashion historian” and I couldn’t agree more! When you divulge into Held’s insta account you learn that he is a stylist and vintage dealer who’s pieces have made there way to some pretty bad ass name, i.e. Rihanna in the “Wild Thought’s” Video!!!!

Speaking of Rihanna, you have to check out Gabriel’s baritone rendition of “Wild Thoughts”! This baritone diva also covers Kandi’s “Don’t Think I’m Not”, (which is how I hit follow) not to mention a weekly video of him performing Lil Kim. (Sidebar: I was Lil Kim for Halloween in the 4th grade, my mom didn’t know who she was! Oh, and my sister and I got grounded for going to see her at the “No Way Out Tour” in ’97)
As a lover of 80’s, 90’s and hip hop style Gabriel Held’s page evokes emotion for me and takes me to a certain place in my life where I was super carefree watching MTV, BET (when they both played music videos and now I’m telling my age) and dreaming of being in Vogue!

So fashion lovers get in, follow @gabriel_held_vintage and enjoy the ride! I guarantee you will get your life on a daily!!! We all need it in these tumultuous times!

True Religion Files for Bankruptcy

True Religion has filed for bankruptcy protection today as the brand failed to evolved with fashion! The “high end” denim company have listed 100 million to 500 in assets and liabilities.
I’m assuming the collaboration with NBA Star Russell Westbrook wasn’t profitable either.
With that being said…While True Religion is blaming the decline of sales in brick and mortar stores and boom in online sales as there reason a they’ve seen a decline…NO ONE WAS EVEN BUYING TRUE RELIGION ANYMORE!
All they had to do was go back to the drawing board and redesign the denim! Personally, I’ve never owned a pair of true religion and found the brand to be obnoxious and reminiscent of Ed Hardy but fashion is always evolving and you have to be aware of that getting into this business.

Rumor Mill: The Twins names are….

As if today couldn’t get any greater with Jay Z dropping his Tidal 4:44 album, Jay and Bey have had the names of their twins leaked again and not it’s not Shawn and Bea (which would’ve been super basic).

With a daughter, Blue Ivy, who’s name is already iconic. The Carters needed something to withstand the test of time. Why would Beyoncé give the girl a 90 year old woman’s name who drinks prune juice…not iconic.
Drumroll please: Sir Carter and Rumi

If these are in fact my niece and nephew’s names, these are definitely dope and could never BEY forgotten.
