Though you were finally served those restraining order papers on your birthday by Karrueche Tran, that doesn’t negate that fact that you are still R&B’s most stylish crooner…so cheers to you and your style!
Editor in Chief, Alexandra Shulman, of British Vogue announced her retirement, we all were wondering WHO’S UP NEXT? Okay maybe the rest of the world didn’t use those exact words but still. Well, Vogue announced the amazing Edward Enninful will be her successor. Talk about Black Excellence.
Here’s a quick history lesson on Enninful. Edward got his start at I-D magazine as Fashion Director at 19! See mom, you shoulda let me run off after high school to NYC to model, who knows where I would be lol. He went on to work for I-D for almost 20 years, while also contributing to Italian and American Vogue.
In 2004 he received the Isabella Blow Award for fashion creator at the British Fashion Awards. Enninful was also appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire for his services to diversity in the fashion industry by none other than Queen Elizabeth.
Not to mention for the past 6 years, Edward has been the creative and fashion director at W Magazine. Not bad.
With all these accolades under his belt, Enninful was almost predestined for this role of Editor in Chief at Vogue. I van not wait to see what he does with Vogue. He will begin his role August 1st.
Aaliyah would’ve celebrated her 38th birthday today. Though her life was tragically cut short, Aaliyah left not only her music but so many iconic fashion moments. Now I wasn’t the hugest fan of her vocals BUT I was here for her style. I will never forget having to beg my mom for Tommy Hilfiger (my mother wouldn’t let us wear Tommy*) because we saw Aaliyah rocking it!
Aaliyah’s style was ahead of her time. Remember the leather lace up pants from “More Than A Woman”? Or how about the diamond studded bra from “Try Again”? Her style definitely influenced the masses and it is still very relevant today!
So in honor of your birthday Babygirl, I picked some of my favorite iconic moments that I somehow still can’t get right today. 🙂
*Tommy Hilfiger said he didn’t want Blacks, Asians or Hispanics wearing his clothes on an episode of Oprah.
The Obamas have said they plan to stay in Washington to allow their younger daughter, Sasha, to finish her final two years at Sidwell Friends School. Older first daughter Malia Obama will graduate from the private Quaker school this year and plans to attend Harvard University in 2017 after taking a gap year.
The 8,200-square-foot mansion, which was built in 1928, sits off Massachusetts Avenue NW by Embassy Row and Rock Creek Park.
According to Politico, the first family will lease the home owned by Joe Lockhart and Giovanna Gray after they leave the White House in January. Lockhart was the White House press secretary during the Clinton administration and has moved to New York to become executive vice president for communications for the National Football League.
Zillow states the home has nine bedrooms and eight and a half bathrooms. It last sold in 2014 for $5,295,000. The home features a castle-like brick exterior and sits on a quarter-acre lot just down the road from the Naval Observatory, the vice president’s official residence, the Associated Press reported.
