Beyoncé Rocks Gucci

Beyonce dropped by the NBA All Star Game in New Orleans in $21,945 Gucci embroidered tiger print silk kimono. The kimono, which is available for pre-order, made its way to the runway durning the men’s spring/summer 2017 fashion show!
Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, described the kimono as, “unexpected.”

Why the price tag? The detachable collar is decked out with black lamb and purple mink fur. The hand embroidered mink pockets are line with green mink fur!

Well Beyoncé, you win again! Since you aren’t going to wear this kimono again, may I have it?!

Drinks at Kingsley

I recently grabbed drinks at Kingsley in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan.  They serve Contemporary French American cuisine which includes some of their most notable dishes such as Charred Octopus, Deviled Pork Slider, and Wagyu Basses – Cotes Steak.  Zagat just recently dubbed them as “Top Newcomer and Best American Restaurant”, and OpenTable describes them as “Fit For Foodies” for this year.

Their cocktail and beverage menu is 16 pages long, and extensive is simply an understatement.  While there the staff recommended the Hanky Panky which is a classic gin cocktail and I also had the best Rosé by Daniel Crochet.

Kingsley is the perfect place to catch up with the girls and grab some amazingly crafted cocktails, have dinner to celebrate a special occasion, or wow that one foodie friend that is hard to impress.

BROOKLYN BRUNCHIN: SOCO

I always say the perfect recipe for a memorable brunch includes great food, unlimited mimosas, and a great ambiance.  SoCo in Brooklyn gives this of these thing served with “southern fusion” cuisine which includes BBQ, cajun/creole, and soul food.  Their brunch includes a $15 unlimited mimosa with the purchase of entree on Saturday for one hour.  I know what you are thinking “What about 90 mins?” or “Why only Saturday?”  Trust me when I say the food will make up for it.

Regardless of what day you go for brunch I recommend making reservations if you can because this is a popular spot in Brooklyn.  Some favorites at this restuarant include:

  • Chicken and Red Velvet Waffles
  • Mac N’ Cheese
  • Strawberry Shortcake French Toast
  • Lobster, Shrimp, and Grits
  • Cornbread
  • Gumbo

During the warmer months they have a back patio which only enhances your brunchin experience.  Although I normally go to SoCo for brunch their dinner menu features things such as Pecan Crusted Pork Chops, Jambalaya, and Molasses Braised Short Ribs.

Chicago Edition: Ann Sather

ann-sather-1

Got a chance to hit up The Windy City this past weekend and go to my favorite spot for breakfast.  It something about Ann Sather when you immediately walk through the door you feel at the home.  The servers are always kind and the food always reminds you of something that someone’s grandmother has cooked for you.   Ann Sather isn’t new to the game and has been around since 1945. Le Souk

I was recently invited to a private event held at a beautiful Moroccan and Mediterranean themed restaurant in the Greenwich Village called Le Souk.  I had a chance to indulge in all they had to offer such as sampling their menu and trying some specialty cocktails sponsored by Deleon Tequila as well.  Le Souk has a lot to offer from great tasting food, well known DJs on the weekend, a full bar, hookah, and even some belly dancing.  The space itself is 3 levels and upon entry you immediately feel whisked away to a far away place.  This is the peferct place to accommodate large parties for your turn up or a nice sit down dinner depending upon the evening.

RICH : Holiday Cocktails

This holiday season wow your guests with some of my favorite and signature holiday inspired cocktails! I absolutely love this time of the year, everything just feels warm and fuzzy! Nothing can make the holiday season more merrier besides  a good strong and delicious cocktail to go right along with those fuzzy socks grandma gets you every year. Some of us will surely need a cocktail when we open those horrible secret Santa gifts people have re-gifted you, ha! So get out your best glassware (gin and tonic doesn’t go in a martini glass)  and bar accessories and show off your bartender skills!

Pumpkin Pie Martini

  • 1/2 oz. Stoli Vanilla (optional, gives them a little kick)
  • 1 oz. Pumpkin Spice liquor
  • 1/2 oz. Khalua (yummy)
  • 1/2 oz. Butterscotch Schnapps
  • 1/2 oz Half & Half (makes it milky and yummy)
  • Crushed graham crackers
  • Cinnamon stick (garnish)

The District Electric Mint Lemonade

  • 1 1/2 ounce of Grey Goose Le Citron
  • 7 ounces of Simply Lemonade
  • Just a splash of Ginger Ale
  • 2 lemon slices

Muddle your mint in glass before you pour your lemonade mixture in it! Muddling your mint is very necessary so that you get all the flavor the mint has to offer!  Shake and mix lemonade and pour over the your mint. Top it off with your lemon slices, mint, and couple of frozen blueberries!

SomberoTini  (like snow in a glass)

  • 1/2 ounce of Patron XO
  • 1 1/2 ounce of vodka of your choice
  • 2 ounces of horchata (Mexican rice milk)
  • *garnish with a dash of cinnamon

Holiday Blizzard

  • 1 1/2 ounces of Wild Turkey
  • 1 1/2 ounces of cranberry juice
  • Soda water
  • Splash of lime juice
  • Garnished with orange piece

Apple Cider Moscow Mule

  • 2 ounces ginger flavored vodka
  • 2 ounces apple cider (store bought or homemade)
  • Juice of 1 small lime wedge
  • Good quality ginger beer to top off (about 1/2 cup or so)

Cinnamon to sprinkle

In a copper mug, add the vodka, apple cider and lime juice. Fill the glass with ice, sprinkle cinnamon over the ice, then top off with ginger beer. Stir well and garnish with an apple slice and cinnamon stick

The Grinchy

  • 2 cups half & half
  • 1 cup cream de menthe
  • 1/2 cup Godiva Chocolate Liqueur
  • (makes two drinks)

Shake it all together!

Remember to snuggle up and stay warm this winter season! Don’t drink and drive…drink and uber 🙂

STL Edition: The Wine Tap

Back again with a St. Louis addition for yall.  Okay so technically this memorable establishment is located in Downtown Belleville but worth the quick drive if you live in St. Louis. With a large selection of wines, delicious flat-breads, and a retractable roof in their garden this establishment has become a quick favorite when I visit home.

STL Edition: Contrary Cupcakes

After months of drooling over IG pics from Contrary Cupcakes I decided to drop in while visiting St. Louis for the holidays.  I consider myself a slight cupcake connoisseur if you have referenced my previous post.  This mini cupcakery opened February 2016 in the South Hampton neighborhood of St.Louis, and has generated a good buzz due to it’s large following prior to having their own storefront.  One thing that makes them so successful is their nontraditional combinations and flavors such as Lemonade, Pancakes & Bacon, and my personal favorite Mom’s Gooey Butter Cake.  The Lemonade cupcake reminded me of almost a lemon Italian ice all while channeling my inner Yoncé.  The gooey butter cupcake was such a SO ST. LOUIS item I had to have it and loved every minute.  Of course if you are not willing to take a walk on the wild side you can always try a traditional cupcake such as Vanilla or Chocolate Birthday.  They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 9am – 6pm or until they are sold out.  They not only specialize in mini cupcakes but also full size cakes as well.  Get out and support the ONLY mini cupcakery in St. Louis and a family owned business as well.
