Carla Fendi Dies At Age 79

The fashion industry has lost a fashion icon, Carla Fendi, one of the 5 fendi sisters, passed away late Monday night after a long battle with an unknown illness.

Fendi started as a leather good shop in 1925 and Carla recalls living above her parents shop and running around playing with the handbags and shreds of leather.

She told WWD, “Accessories were our first toys.”

Once the sisters took over in the 1960’s, Fendi expanded to ready to wear, home, children’s, and shoes. Karl Lagerfeld was brought in as Creative Director and the company saw a significant boost in revenue after he introduced furs into the line.

Carla Fendi was also responsible for pushing the brand to where it is today. The Fendi logo is one of the top recognized luxury brands worldwide.
In her later years, Carla became a advocate for art and culture in Rome. Her foundation restored the city’s Trevi Fountain, where Fendi hosted one of its runway shows.
Carla, your impact on the fashion world will never be forgotten. Thank you for your creativity and passion.

Ye’ Turns 40

Today we celebrate Kanye West 40th birthday and whats a better way to honor the former Louis Vuitton Don than with some of his greatest moments in Fashion. Just like we all have a favorite Ye’ album, we all have a favorite Ye’ fashion era. I honestly prefer anything pre 2012 (shade), though the fashion on Yeezus was impressive. I’m not here for the homeless/bodysuit monochromatic look where I have to pay 600 bucks for a sweatshirt that I can get at Walmart.
So here’s to you Kanye, we hope you give us 40 more years of style.

Balmain/L’Oréal Collaboration

I see myself in Balmain by Loreal!
Loreal and Balmain have teamed up for a for a lipstick collaboration that will have us all outside of our neighborhood walgreens or rite aid. The 3 theme 12 shade collection will debut in September at Paris Fashion Week and an exclusive “jewel edition” that will be carried at Balmain.

“With L’Oréal Paris, Rousteing brings the raw creativity with which he has reinvented Balmain, from the Paris runways to his first ever beauty collection,” L’Oréal and Balmain said in a joint statement. “Accessible beauty and high fashion now have a symbolic meeting point: This new Color Riche limited collection with Balmain Paris.”

Finally they are getting it right. Not all of us have the deep pockets to buy a $40 lipstick. I’m sure sick of it!

Chanel Cruise 2018

When you can’t find a venue to feature your collection you create one. That’s exactly what Karl Lagerfeld did. Lagerfeld brought Greece to Paris at the Grand Palais in Paris this afternoon. Replicating the Temple of Poseidon, models emerged from the ruins donning tunics, cream knits, embellished jewelry and gold plated leaf sunglesses that will have my bank account on empty.
To be honest, the Grecian looks is always so effortless and perfect for the fashion Aphrodite like myself. It’s simple yet so chic and elegant.

Karl, send me a pair of lace up heels!!!!

TBT: Last Week Gucci Dropped Of All Black Dance Party Campaign

Ya’ll remember when word got out that Gucci was doing an all black casting? The wait is over!

Styled and directed by Alessandro Michele, the 60’s meets the 80’s inspired campaign dropped this morning! When I say, Life is given, LIFE IS GIVEN! I cant stop looking and admiring the photos of my people glammed up and and jamming out while draped in Gucci!

“The Soul Scene” was shot and inspired by Glen Luchford’s “Made You Look” exhibit which explored the black man, masculinity and Dandy. When Michele visited the exhibit last summer in London, he particularly fell in love with Malick Sidibé. Sidibe’s work focused on nightlife and culture from his home in West Africa.

Great Job Alessandro! Thank You for genuinely capturing our essence! Nothing feels forced in these images.
