Paris Couture Week is upon us and if you aren’t too busy being distracted by the “Blac Rob” drama, there have been some pretty amazing runway shows. Besides serving us tons us Melanin (FINALLY), Couture Week has also served tons of looks, we won’t even get into the attendees (we totally will though)! Here are a few of my fave top picks…so far!
First up, Viktor and Rolf. Definitely Giving Polly Pocket Teas!!!!
Ralph and Russo
Jean Paul Gautier
Miu Miu taking us to the Race Track!
Alexandre Vauthier. There is not one look here that I wouldn’t shut DOWN!
Maison Martin Margiela
Vogue has coined Gabriel Held as, “Instagram’s foremost fashion historian” and I couldn’t agree more! When you divulge into Held’s insta account you learn that he is a stylist and vintage dealer who’s pieces have made there way to some pretty bad ass name, i.e. Rihanna in the “Wild Thought’s” Video!!!!
Speaking of Rihanna, you have to check out Gabriel’s baritone rendition of “Wild Thoughts”! This baritone diva also covers Kandi’s “Don’t Think I’m Not”, (which is how I hit follow) not to mention a weekly video of him performing Lil Kim. (Sidebar: I was Lil Kim for Halloween in the 4th grade, my mom didn’t know who she was! Oh, and my sister and I got grounded for going to see her at the “No Way Out Tour” in ’97)
As a lover of 80’s, 90’s and hip hop style Gabriel Held’s page evokes emotion for me and takes me to a certain place in my life where I was super carefree watching MTV, BET (when they both played music videos and now I’m telling my age) and dreaming of being in Vogue!

True Religion has filed for bankruptcy protection today as the brand failed to evolved with fashion! The “high end” denim company have listed 100 million to 500 in assets and liabilities.
I’m assuming the collaboration with NBA Star Russell Westbrook wasn’t profitable either.
With that being said…While True Religion is blaming the decline of sales in brick and mortar stores and boom in online sales as there reason a they’ve seen a decline…NO ONE WAS EVEN BUYING TRUE RELIGION ANYMORE!
All they had to do was go back to the drawing board and redesign the denim! Personally, I’ve never owned a pair of true religion and found the brand to be obnoxious and reminiscent of Ed Hardy but fashion is always evolving and you have to be aware of that getting into this business.
As if today couldn’t get any greater with Jay Z dropping his Tidal 4:44 album, Jay and Bey have had the names of their twins leaked again and not it’s not Shawn and Bea (which would’ve been super basic).
With a daughter, Blue Ivy, who’s name is already iconic. The Carters needed something to withstand the test of time. Why would Beyoncé give the girl a 90 year old woman’s name who drinks prune juice…not iconic.
Drumroll please: Sir Carter and Rumi
If these are in fact my niece and nephew’s names, these are definitely dope and could never BEY forgotten.

In her final collection for Manolo Blahnik, Rihanna collab is rightfully called “So Stoned”. Not to be confused with her day to day roll up but Swarovski crystal adorned pvc heels that are almost reminiscent of jewelry collaboration with Chopard!
Deeming this collaboration her “hands down favorite,” Rihanna rocked “Poison Ivy” in Dj Khaled’s “Wild Thoughts” video!

Though it’s only Wednesday, there have been tons of best dressed to grace our presence for this mid week fashion round up.
If you didn’t let the Joe Budden/Migos, Chris Brown/Migos beef distract you post BET Awards, there was actually lots of slayage that hit the carpet!
Let’s Start with Letoya Luckett who served this Candice Cuoco x Vanessa Simmons number with finger waves.
Sibley Scoles rocking Alexander Wang.
Lil Mama looking like a goddess in Steven Khalil
While blonde bobs were seen all over the carpet, Cardi B takes the cake while rocking Givenchy!
The jet over to Paris, where Gabrielle Union and hubby Dwayne Wade have been serving looks on everybody. Dwayne’s son Zion even got in on the fun!
The first ever NBA awards were held Monday in NYC and while Russell Westbrook was named MVP and most stylish, that didn’t stop other players from showing up and showing out!
Defensive player of the year Draymond Green opted for a YSL tuxedo/short set!
As if I couldn’t make myself feel any older, The Nelly Takeover began on this day when he dropped “Country Grammar” in 2000! Be it that I am from good ol’ St. Louis, I remember everyone and their mama saying they were in Nelly’s videos or that they knew Nelly! I did know a “Nellie” but it was my big sister!
Wait, I do know “Big Nelly,” Cornell Haynes Sr., he is my cousin Renell’s best friend! I digress.
This album would start a trend of guys wearing bandaids under their eye while rocking Air Force 1’s and Nelly’s Vokal line. Great times!
Did ya’ll know that “Country Grammar” went DIAMOND?! No matter how you try to spin Nelly’s situation, the numbers don’t lie and Nelly had the rap game on lock and went on to have two more platinum selling albums after “Country Grammar”.
Here’s to you Nelly and thank you for introducing the world to St. Louis!
The fashion industry has lost a fashion icon, Carla Fendi, one of the 5 fendi sisters, passed away late Monday night after a long battle with an unknown illness.
Fendi started as a leather good shop in 1925 and Carla recalls living above her parents shop and running around playing with the handbags and shreds of leather.
She told WWD, “Accessories were our first toys.”
Once the sisters took over in the 1960’s, Fendi expanded to ready to wear, home, children’s, and shoes. Karl Lagerfeld was brought in as Creative Director and the company saw a significant boost in revenue after he introduced furs into the line.
Carla Fendi was also responsible for pushing the brand to where it is today. The Fendi logo is one of the top recognized luxury brands worldwide.
In her later years, Carla became a advocate for art and culture in Rome. Her foundation restored the city’s Trevi Fountain, where Fendi hosted one of its runway shows.
Carla, your impact on the fashion world will never be forgotten. Thank you for your creativity and passion.
