This past week I got to check out the new restaurant on the block in Financial District. Sauce & Barrel has already been mentioned in Eater and Gotham and they have only been open a little over two months now. The cuisine they serve up is Italian, but they have labeled themselves as a Pizzeria Bar. Although I love a good pie their professional pictures for their pasta is what had me at “Hello”!
Their menu includes 8 types of pizza, several different kinds of pasta, and plenty of options for sharing as well. I do believe that love at first sign is possible with food. My love at first sight, was their spaghetti dish that included shrimp, scallions, chili, and topped with bread crumbs to provide a nice texture. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and not a bit tough. During our meal, the waiter informed me EVERYTHING is made in-house down to the sauces and pasta. F-R-E-S-H!!!! The chef at Sauce & Barrel hails from Eatly and La Sirena so this came at no surprise to me in terms of food standards. This establishment has a carefully crafted cocktail menu that contains barrel aged spirits, and new & classic cocktails.
Be sure to stop in Sauce & Barrel and tell them The District sent you!
